Strawberry Yogurt Bowl

A simple and great yogurt bowl that is so delicious and healthy to eat for breakfast. This is a new breakfast meal of mine that I have added into my meals and it is starting to become one of my favorite breakfast meals. It is light, creamy, sweet in flavor with an extra crunch from the walnuts and oats.

The inspiration...

This recipe was inspired by Anna Jones Cranachan recipe. Cranachan is a traditional Scottish dessert that is layered with berries and cream. Cranachan is often made for celebrations and family gatherings and it tastes delicious! This classic dessert inspired me to turn it into a breakfast treat that is a little healthier than a dessert. It is a lighter version of the dessert with yogurt as a substitute for the cream, only a drizzle of honey for extra sweetness, and of course filled with tasty fruit. The added crunch of walnut and oats is the perfect addition to this yogurt bowl.

This is a super simple breakfast bowl that can be made fast and it is so filling. It is a wonderful breakfast bowl that will brighten your day and give you tons of energy!

Serving size: 1

Total Time: 15 minutes

Source: Adapted from a Modern Way to Cook by Anna Jones

  • 1/3 cup strawberries, sliced

  • 1/4 cup walnuts

  • 3 tablespoons rolled oats

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 1/2 cup greek yogurt

Step 1: Take your walnuts and oats and toast them on medium-high heat in a saucepan. You want them to brown a little bit and get toasty about 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat and chop up into small chunks.

Step 2: Take half of the sliced strawberries and add a drizzle of honey. Crush up the strawberries in the bowl and let them marinate for a few minutes while you prepare the yogurt bowl.

Step 3: Add the yogurt to a bowl. Top with sliced strawberries. Pour the strawberry marinate and oat mixture on top. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Drizzle with extra honey and enjoy!
