The inspiration ...

I love to find different and unique smoothie recipes because it is exciting to blend all the ingredients together and try what it tastes like. This recipe was inspired by my favorite cookbook by Anna Jones. She has many light and refreshing recipes that are healthy and taste so good. This is like a strawberry smoothie with an extra kick from the cardamom spice and coconut flavor. The coconut, almonds, protein powder make this smoothie extra filling and filled with energy for a breakfast smoothie. The cardamom flavor, not a spice I would add in a smoothie but it works so well. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon for more spice flavor.

Lately, I have been really into smoothies because I think it is a great way to get extra nutrients into my diet. I like to drink them during my morning routine and they fill me up for the day. A few tips:

  • Milk substitute - for an extra coconut flavor you can substitute the milk for coconut milk or any other milk substitute of your preference. I like to use lactose-free whole milk because it is filled with a lot of protein.

  • Spices - free to add different spices to this smoothie. I think cinnamon or nutmeg or great flavors to add with cardamom spice.

  • Strawberries - frozen strawberries will make the smoothie thicker. If you use fresh strawberries you can add extra ice cubes.
