Halloween Sugar Cookies

The inspiration...

I was looking for a tasty and spooky-looking cookie to make for Halloween. My shopping turn into me buying many Halloween supplies as I got more and more excited about creating a Halloween cookie. I found these candy eyes in the supermarket and I thought this is perfect to mix in with my sugar cookies. Then, I found so many different kinds of sprinkles that I mixed to make this spooky mix. This is a classic sugar cookie recipe with spooky eyes and sprinkles mixed into the sugar cookie.

These are easy cookies that you can make for a Halloween celebration. They are perfectly scary with those eyeball candies following you with every bite.

A few tips...

  • Candy eyes and sprinkles - I found my decorations at the supermarket because it is Halloween season. You can also find fun candy decorations online that are Halloween-themed.

  • White chocolate chips - these are perfectly mixed into the cookie because it adds a creamy chocolatey consistency to the cookie. I highly recommend using white chocolate chips but you could substitute any chocolate chip.

  • Rolling the dough in sprinkles - When you roll the dough in the sprinkles some of the sprinkles will fall off and that is ok. You could also fold in the sprinkles in the batter. I prefer the sprinkles on the outside to create a crunchy texture on the outside and a gooey texture on the inside.

  • Storage - these cookies will last 5-7 days in an air-tight container. They are delicious even 7 days later!

Halloween Sugar Cookies

Serving size: 16

Total Time: 30 minutes

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

  • 1/3 cup of candy eyes

  • 1/4 cup sprinkles

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, with a handheld mixer or whisk, cream the softened butter and sugars together. Whisk for about 3 minutes until smooth.

Step 3: Add in the eggs and vanilla. Mix for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy. Fold in the flour, baking soda, salt, cornstarch until dough forms.

Step 4: Fold in the white chocolate chunks in the dough until evenly throughout.

Step 5: Prepare the sprinkles to roll the dough in. Add the sprinkles to a bowl with the candy eyes. Scoop 1 tablespoon of cookie dough and roll the dough in the sprinkles. You can press the sprinkles around the exterior of the dough to make the sprinkles stick. I also placed the eyes on top so that the eyes were evenly throughout. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the cookies have puffed up and are brown on the outside.
