Berry Oat Smoothie

Berry Oat Smoothie is a classic and delicious smoothie to have for breakfast. I love the sweetness from the berries and the creaminess from the milk. It is filling and so satisfying!

Berry Oat Smoothie

About this smoothie...

This smoothie is like having oatmeal with blueberries all in one drink. It is made with a mix of frozen and fresh berries, bananas, oranges, oatmeal, protein powder, and milk. Berries and oats are the main ingredients in this smoothie but I like to add extra fruit to get all those extra vitamins and antioxidants. For this berry smoothie, I used a mixture of blueberries and raspberries because those are my favorite berries.

Smoothies can be so good for you and I often replace my lunch or breakfast with a quick smoothie. It sounds crazy to skip a meal but if you fill your smoothie up it can be so filling. The protein powder in this smoothie makes it extra filling! I like to add protein powder to all my smoothies because I am a vegetarian it is nice to get an extra boost of protein in any of my meals. Also, the best part is you don't add any extra sugar so all the sugar boost you need is from the fruit!

A few tips:

  • Fruit mix combination - have fun and mix it up with different fruit that is frozen or fresh. I like to add more frozen fruit to make my smoothies thicker. You can try only blueberries in this smoothie or a larger mix of berries. All will taste delicious!

  • Oats - you can make this smoothie taste more like oatmeal by adding more oats

  • Nut butter - for extra flavor or a great substitute for protein powder is nut butter. I love to add peanut butter or almond butter to my smoothie. I add about a tablespoon at a time and try the smoothie because nut butter can be overpowering in flavor in a drink.

  • Storage - my smoothies last about a day in the fridge in a glass that is covered. But, I think the best kinds of smoothies are prepared the day of.
