Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is healthy and light with a pinch of red chili flakes to give each bite a nice kick. Avocado toast is so tasty and it is my new go-to dessert to make in the morning.



The motivation...


I am in one of those breakfast moods lately and I am experimenting with different healthy breakfast meals. I find that I will end up making the same thing every morning and I am getting bored of my daily rotation of breakfast. I wanted to try out different kinds of healthy breakfasts to see if I liked them. The first breakfast that I wanted to try to make is the classic and popular avocado toast.


Avocado toast was a trendy dessert a few years ago and it probably still is a popular dessert. I never understood why I would order avocado toast at a restaurant because it is a simple breakfast you can easily make at home. Trust me! This breakfast is so easy to make you will be asking yourself the same thing.

The process to make these...


The process is so easy it will take you about 15 minutes to prepare and then eat! I would recommend eating the same day because it is hard to keep avocado fresh in the fridge. I don't like it when avocado turns that gross green.


You will need a piece of toast of any kind that you would like. I used whole wheat bread to make toast. To be really fancy you can use fresh sourdough bread or any kind of fresh bread of your preference. The first step is to toast the bread and I toasted my bread extra brown because that is my preference.


To make the avocado mixture you scoop out the avocado using a spoon. I prefer just ripen avocado that hasn't yet darkened inside and is that bright green color. I test this by looking for an avocado that is a more dark brown on the outside and when you lightly squeeze the avocado you can make a slight impression. The avocado should still feel slightly firm and not too mushy. Once you scoop out the avocado using a spoon in a bowl, mash the avocado well, and then mix in all the ingredients and that is it! Add that beautiful avocado mixture to the toast and you are ready to have an amazing healthy breakfast. This is a classic recipe of avocado toast but there are many different variations so feel free to experiment with the flavor combinations that you love.


The health benefits of avocado...


Avocados are a highly nutritious fruit and can add a very rich flavor to many dishes. Avocado is filled with vitamins of about 20 different kinds all of which are good for you to consume. They are loaded with potassium, fiber, and fatty acids all of which have many health benefits. It is heavy in fats but all the good fats are in avocados. That is why I love avocado because I get to eat all the good fats! I love to enjoy this beautiful fruit for its health benefits but also because it tastes delicious!

Avocado Toast

Serving size: 2 pieces of bread

Total Time: 25 mins

  • 1 medium-large avocado

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

  • a sprinkle of red chili flakes

  • butter for the toast (optional)

Step 1: Add your toast to a toaster and toast your bread. Butter the toast.


Step 2: Slice the avocado in half and use a spoon to scoop out the inside. Mash the avocado well with a fork.


Step 4: Add the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Mix into the avocado. taste and adjust seasoning to your liking.


Step 5: Spread the avocado mash on top of the toast and enjoy!
